Hockey Team Reaches Out to Help Cancer Patients

Their typical tools of the trade include hockey sticks and helmets but members of the Central Cambria Red Devils hockey team recently are being touted for their blanket making skills.

Team members recently visited Conemaugh Miners Medical Center to present the Conemaugh Cancer Care Center with homemade blankets to be shared with cancer patients.

“We had a chance to visit with them and I was very impressed by the work they did and the sincerity of the group,” said William Crowe, President of Conemaugh Miners Medical Center.  “Our physicians and staff were touched by the project and thankful for this kindness shown to our patients.”

The Red Devils also held a “Shutout Cancer” hockey game in November, raising money for local families affected by cancer.

The Central Cambria Red Devils hockey program has players from many area schools in the Ebensburg and surrounding regions including students from Cambria Heights and Northern Cambria school districts.
