Board certified colorectal surgeon Dr. Paul Meade is now seeing patients at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.
A graduate of Boston College and Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Meade served as a Major, Medical Corps, USA, at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri. He completed a General Surgery internship and residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, before completing a clinical fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Dr. Meade comes to Conemaugh from Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, where he worked as a colorectal surgeon for eleven years. “I chose to come to Conemaugh because this is a great opportunity which is near and dear to my heart,” says Dr. Meade. “I will have the opportunity here to work with residents and build this subspecialty program for the system. I am excited to be here.”
An expert in laparoscopic colon surgeries, Dr. Meade says he spent several years refining minimally invasive techniques. “I use techniques and approaches that are efficient, practical and evidence based,” says Dr. Meade. “These provide many benefits and good outcomes for patients.”
Dr. Meade is looking forward to his role in Conemaugh Memorial’s General Surgery residency program. He has held previous teaching positions at East Carolina University School of Medicine, Temple University School of Medicine and at Geisinger Medical Center.
Dr. Meade is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.
