Conemaugh Physician Group - Vascular Surgery is pleased to welcome Glenn Gardner, MD, RVT, FACS, FSVM to its practice.
"It is important to treat the patient holistically and meet the patient's overall needs," says Gardner. "I treat vascular diseases in perspective of the entire patient, not just the specific disease." Dr. Gardner became interested in Vascular Surgery because his father was also a Vascular Surgeon.
Dr. Gardner will see inpatients and outpatients at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Services include carotid surgery, carotid stenting, open and endovascular aortic reconstruction, lower extremity bypass, stent balloon angioplasty, dialysis access, wound care, varicose veins, and treatment of deep vein thrombosis.
"The most satisfaction I receive as a physician is when a patient comes back to see me and says that they stopped smoking after talking with me," says Gardner. "It's a tough habit to quit. If I can convey to them the huge impact of a healthy lifestyle - and they follow-through - that’s a success story!”
Dr Gardner was originally a part-time physician at Conemaugh Memorial. After interacting with the staff and residents, he decided to stay with Conemaugh Physician Group full-time. "I enjoy teaching and the Graduate Medical Education program here is great," says Gardner. "The residents really value learning from others and I hope to provide them that valuable experience that can propel their future careers."
Dr. Gardner earned his bachelor's degree in biology from Indiana University. He attended medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed his surgical residency at Morristown Memorial Hospital, an affiliate of Columbia University College, and vascular surgery fellowship at Boston University.
Dr. Gardner enjoys bike riding, yoga, and photography. He and his wife are excited to join the Johnstown community.
