Conemaugh Physician Group - Neurology welcomes Nicholas Lanciano, DO to its practice. Dr. Lanciano will see outpatients at Conemaugh East Hills on Scalp Avenue, Richland, and inpatients at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center's Main Campus.
Dr. Lanciano completed his undergraduate biology degree at Saint Francis University in Loretto, followed by medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed an Internal Medicine Internship and Neurology Residency at Ohio State University Medical Center, where he earned the Gold Humanism Honors Society Resident Excellence Teaching Award. He completed his Neurophysiology Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
"I've always had an interest in the way the brain works," says Dr. Lanciano. "There are still functions of the brain that are a mystery. It's very intriguing." Dr. Lanciano has special interest in epilepsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and treatment of headaches. He has extensive training in stroke care and helped to establish the stroke program at Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. Lanciano will work closely with Conemaugh Memorial's Primary Stroke Center and the Stroke Team.
"Conemaugh has an established Neurology program and I look forward to helping the program grow," says Dr. Lanciano. "There is opportunity to further develop my skills and continuously self-improve while helping the Health System to expand its services for the community. My wife is originally from this area. We're happy to be back."
Dr. Lanciano is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Academy of Neurology, and American Epilepsy Society.
