Conemaugh Miners Medical Center Receives High Ratings for Care

December 1, 2015

Conemaugh Miners Medical Center is celebrating high marks received in the most recent release of the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) standardized survey which measures the patient’s perspective of the care received.

Conemaugh Miners Medical Center’s HCAHPS composite star rating is 4 out of 5 with Miners physicians and nurses rated 5 out of 5 stars in communication. Other areas of 4 star achievements include responsiveness of staff, pain management, cleanliness of room/bathroom, and quietness of area around the room at night, transition of care, overall rating of hospital, and willingness to recommend.

“The physicians and staff at Miners Medical Center are pleased to have the privilege to care for our community members and will continue to strive for 5 out of 5 stars in all areas,” says William Crowe, President of Conemaugh Miners Medical Center. “We are thankful for the continued trust that our community places in us by allowing us to provide their healthcare needs.”

The data, which is collected by a third party, is compiled and then publicly reported. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) assigns a star rating based on top box scores to show the hospital’s performance. The Star Ratings are an indicator used to show a comparison of performance. Each HCAHPS measure is assigned one to five stars; a composite score indicates an average of stars for each measure. This information can be found on the Hospital Compare website.
