Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center Forms Patient Advisory Council

January 12, 2016

Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center recently established the Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center Patient Advisory Council as a way to better serve its patients and provide optimal care.  The council consists of physicians, employees, patients and family members of patients.  Jessica Hemming, Patient Access Manager, and Jennifer Kretchman, Dietary Manager, co-chair the council.

According to Hemming the purpose of the council is to establish partnerships with the medical center’s patients and family members.  Having these relationships will allow the council to receive open feedback from the patients and their family members and help achieve the ideal patient experience.

“We want honest feedback from our council members so we can do an even better job of caring for our patients,” said Hemming.  “We want them to actively participate in the council and make them aware of how important their opinion is.”

The goals of the council are to advocate patient and family centered decision making, further build positive relationships between the medical center and the local communities and listen actively to engage patients and families as an avenue to channel information, needs, concerns and suggestions regarding quality, safety and patient satisfaction.

“Establishing the Patient Advisory Council is an initiative Duke LifePoint and the Conemaugh Health System wanted the medical center to institute.  This is another example of how we can deliver even better quality care to our patients,” said Kretchman.

Currently, the council has two community council members.  They are Jeff Moser, and Mardi Vincent.  “Ideally we would like to add two or three more community council members,” Kretchman said.  Other members on the council include, Heather Smith, Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center President; Dr. David Glusko, Tonya Christner, Patty Mishler, Marlene Roth, Sarah Schardt, Brandy Tipton and Carrie Wilhelm.

Any local community member interested in joining Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center’s Patient Advisory Council should contact Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center at (814) 972-6909.  The council meets once a month in the medical center’s lower level conference room.
