Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center’s Obstetrics Ultrasound Department has received accreditation through the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). The accreditation includes obstetrics ultrasounds for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimester, fetal echocardiogram, and adjunct detailed fetal anatomic survey; and gynecologic ultrasound – adjunct competence in 3D gynecology.
The AIUM accreditation process is a voluntary peer review process. To receive accreditation, Conemaugh Memorial’s OB Ultrasound Department demonstrated meeting or exceeding nationally recognized standards in performance and interpretation of diagnostic ultrasound examinations. Conemaugh Memorial’s OB Ultrasound Department demonstrated competency in all areas of operation including personnel education, training, and experience; document storage and record keeping; policies and procedures safeguarding patients, ultrasound personnel, and equipment; instrumentation; quality assurance; and case studies.
