Dr. Usha Kanak, a board-certified diagnostic radiologist is now seeing patients at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.
A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Kanak earned her Doctor of Medicine from State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn. She completed an internal medicine internship at Staten Island University Hospital in New York and a residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh before completing a fellowship in Women’s Imaging at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital.
Dr. Kanak’s previous experience included serving as Director of the Women’s Breast Imaging Center at Mercy Jeannette Hospital in Jeannette, PA. She also served as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at UPMC St. Margaret in Pittsburgh.
Dr. Kanak chose the field of diagnostic radiology because she enjoys working with women and helping them with their healthcare needs. “I really feel I can make a difference for women undergoing screening, diagnosis and treatment,” says Dr. Kanak. “My mother had master’s degree in sociology and my father was a professor so we grew up valuing service and communication, both are key parts of the work I do today as a physician.”
Dr. Kanak’s husband is a physician and she has three children who would love to be considered a part of the Johnstown community.
