Conemaugh Health System Welcomes New Chief Medical Officer

Susan L. Williams, MD has been named Chief Medical Officer for Conemaugh Health System, of Duke LifePoint Healthcare, effective August 1, 2015.

Dr. Williams is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology with a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a doctorate degree from the State University of New York. She was an Internal Medicine resident at University Hospitals of Cleveland and a fellow at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with special qu alification in critical care, and the American Board of Nephrology.

Dr. Williams has extensive teaching experience including positions at Temple University Medical School, Allegheny University Health System, Hahnemann Medical College, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and University Hospitals of Cleveland.

Dr. Williams will lead Conemaugh in further enhancement of quality and expansion of a physician network. "We will continue to engage the entire physician enterprise including Conemaugh Physician Group and independent physicians to become a high functioning integrated network delivering the highest possible quality care at the lowest possible cost for patients. Our priorities will continue to be helping our population become healthy, stay healthy, and providing an outstanding patient experience at all of our facilities."

In her most recent role as Chief Medical Officer of Noble Health Alliance in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, Dr. Williams led development of a three health system alliance to create a clinically integrated network, recruited 2,238 physicians, and created a quality committee to oversee standardization of care, quality performance, and determine areas of opportunity. Additionally, she held the positions of President of Crozer Keystone Physician Partners, a clinically integrated physician network, and Senior Physician of Crozer Keystone Health Network, the employed physician arm of Crozer Keystone Health System in Springfield, Pennsylvania. She also served as the Vice President of Clinical Integration at Crozer Keystone and is a primary care physician.
