Benjamin J. Policicchio AIA, ACHA, CHFM, Director of Architecture & Planning for the Conemaugh Health System and Memorial Medical Center Safety Officer, has been named President Elect of the Pennsylvania Society for Health Facility Engineering (PSHFE).
PSHFE is the advocate and resource for continuous improvement in the health care engineering and facilities management profession in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is the designated state entity of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering.
“It is a great organization and it allows me to network with facilities leaders and advocates at other large healthcare institutions across the state,” says Policicchio who has been elected for a two year term, the first year as President Elect and the following year as President of the organization. “It is good for me personally but also good for Conemaugh as it allows us to discuss and share best practices in facility engineering.”
One of the main duties for the position is to plan educational sessions for the organization.
“For 2016 we are planning a number of educational sessions including a spring and fall conference,” says Policicchio. “We focus on issues that are of interest to this group including patient safety, sustainable design, security and facility guideline changes.”
Policicchio has served on the board of PSHFE since 2014 and also serves as Chair of the Society’s Education Committee. He has worked at Conemaugh Health System for nearly 34 years as the medical center’s architect and has been involved in all aspects of planning, renovation and new construction.
