Heather J. Smith became President of Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center in November 2014. As President, Ms. Smith is responsible for providing strategic direction for Conemaugh Meyersdale as well as coordination of all activities that fulfill the mission of the critical access hospital.
Ms. Smith joined the Conemaugh Health System in 2000 and soon became the Director of Finance. She has been a member of the hospital’s administration for 13 years. In recent years, Ms. Smith also held the position of Director of Support Services with leadership oversight of the non-clinical departments and three rural health clinics.
Ms. Smith graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Accounting. Prior to joining Conemaugh Meyersdale, she worked locally with a CPA firm as an accountant and auditor for three years. She is currently studying at Liberty University to obtain her Masters in Business Administration. She is also a Certified Financial Healthcare Professional (CHFP).
Ms. Smith’s professional involvement includes membership in the Healthcare Financial Management Association and Board of Director for the Penn Highlands Health Plan. She is actively involved in her community and is a 14 year volunteer of the Pennsylvania Maple Festival, Inc. She also has volunteered for Meyersdale’s AYSO program and was a Board of Director for the Meyersdale Community Main Street Program.
Ms. Smith loves spending time with family including her two young sons. She enjoys being outdoors, camping, walking and reading.
