FMC Entire Program 2013

Our program seeks to provide practical, evidence-based education preparing family physicians for the practice of their choice.  Our graduates are in "traditional" practice academics and practices limited to either the hospital or office.  Each year, six residents are accepted into the program.

The Family Medicine Residency is pleased to announce a 100% Board Passage rate for graduates the past nine consecutive years!

Our residents are backed by state-of-the-art technology, including electronic health records at our Family Medical Center and the clinical resources of Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center (MMC). Attracting a diverse patient mix across six counties, its services include a Level I regional resource trauma center and a Level III neonatal intensive care unit- including 24/7 cardiac catheterizations and open heart surgery, and nationally recognized orthopedic services.

Blending compassionate, family-centered care with cost-effective medicine, our residents learn to care for the most complicated patients, following patients of all ages through every stage of care. This begins with office visits and continues through outpatient services, inpatient care, critical care, follow-up and discharge.   Our office houses a rural HIV and suboxone program.  This unique training ground, nestled in the Laurel Highlands of west central Pennsylvania, is just one reason why nearly half of all MMC residents remain in the area to practice their profession.  Those who choose to leave are well prepared for competitive, challenging positions in practices sites across the country.

The Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program has received 5-year accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and The American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice (AOBFP). This is the best possible outcome that can be achieved.
